Lincoln Community Health Center Repairs and Durham County at Pride

  • Clerk Wallace delivered announcements about the Durham Public Schools 2025 College Fair, which will take place on Saturday, September 30th. Clerk Wallace also detailed the county’s Low Income Homeowners Relief (LIHR) program, which provides resources to some who have been in their homes for at least five years, and the dates for early voting for the 2025 municipal primary election, which will conclude on Saturday, October 4th.
  • Commissioner Jacobs announced the County will be at the Pride parade on Saturday, September 27th, Commissioner Jacobs also encouraged Durham County staff and commissioners to join a group from the County in marching in Pride and asked those interested to contact Clerk Wallace.
  • Chair Allam asked whether the Lincoln Community Health Center capital project involved repairs or new construction, and staff confirmed it was the former. Chair Allam later contended that repairs to the facility were contractually Duke University's responsibility, and indicated a hope that the school would cover more such expenses in the future.
  • Attorney Williamson announced appointments made by the County Commissioners to the Audit Oversight Committee, Discover Durham Tourism Development Authority, Environmental Affairs Board, Historic Preservation Commission, and Memorial Stadium Authority.
  • Chair Allam brought the meeting into closed session to confer with the county's Economic Development Director and County Attorney. The closed session lasted the remainder of the meeting, or slightly over an hour.
